The Warren-Washington Rose House is Now Open!

The Warren Washington Rose House is Open!

We are excited to announce that the Warren Washington Rose House is open for guests.

Warren and Washington Rose House:
(518) 502-1172

Rose Houses are 100% peer-operated short-term crisis respites that are open and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Instead of traditional “treatment,” Rose Houses are safe, empowering, self-determined learning communities that allow guests to work on their recovery and move towards wellness, however they define it. Rose Houses are not only site-based, but also reach out beyond their walls through 24 hour peer-operated warm lines, and mobile peer services.

What are Rose Houses designed to do?

Rose Houses are designed to:

  • Prevent people from going to the hospital emergency room for psychiatric reasons;
  • Help people to learn how to better manage and work through emotional distress so that they can prevent potential future crises.
  • Encourage people to be healthy throughout their whole lives (mind, body, spirit, community);
  • Help people to feel less alone as they share their personal stories with people who have had similar experiences;
  • Help people to build on their strengths (skills, knowledge, accomplishments, resources) to deal with crises;
  • Provide people with information about alternative approaches to mental health care (incl. self-help, diet and nutrition, expressive therapies, yoga, relaxation & stress reduction techniques, etc.);
  • Inspire people to achieve positive changes in their lives;
  • Help people to learn about different coping skills to deal with life’s stressors; and
  • Inspire people to use alternative methods, instead of the hospital or acute care services, if a crisis should ever recur.

Stories of HOPE

Two months ago,  I was homeless and in deep despair…

After a short stay at the hospital, i was introduced to Josh at PEOPLe, Inc. and it changed my life for the better.  I would like to thank all the people at the Rose House and PEOPLe, Inc. for saving my life.

Stories of HOPE

“ I think that if I can find hope, anyone can”

“No one in my life knows how often I think about dying. I’ve struggled silently for years with shame, the consequences of a list of traumas and violence, and the inability to talk about things that happened to me. Most people would never suspect.

I woke up one day, in the worst of it, and I realized I didn’t know what it felt like to feel good.  That was my moment where I found hope.   I realized I wanted to feel better. I hadn’t had a hopeful thought in a long time. I didn’t know what it even looked like, but I knew I wanted to get better. So, I got involved in feeling better.  I didn’t know if it would work.

I think about dying less. When I think of it now, I don’t panic. I know what it is. Its’ my past. And when I think about dying, I try a different way to get better. I feel a little better each day”

Stories of HOPE

One day I had lost everything…

Husband, Kids, Home, Sanity.  It was too much.  Then someone said to me, “Trust in God,”  I said, ”  I dont believe in God.” He said, “That’s okay, He believes in you!”

Hope – the Evidence in your heart that something better is waiting JUST FOR YOU!

You never know who you are inspiring when you act with HOPE and kindness.
